Overview of eCommerce Website Design
This project was a 6-month project with Laptop Battery which involved both SEO and a full website redesign of an ecommerce website with over 500 products. Our services achieved amazing results increasing the number of keywords ranking by 700% and increased visitors from organic searches by 666% (people typing in/speaking keywords into Google).
Background
Laptop Battery is a UK Based eCommerce website which provides a wide variety of laptop battery products. They provide a wide range of Laptop Batteries, AC Adaptors and Car Adaptors for a number of different brands including Dell, Apple, Sony, Toshiba, HP, Compaq and Acer.
An updated modern responsive website was required that would lead to more organic traffic through people searching online for new and replacement Laptop Batteries.
Mike Tobin approached Agile Digital Strategy to request an eCommerce Website Redesign with SEO services for Laptop Battery. This project has been completed under the Local Enterprise Office’s Trading Online Voucher scheme. This project ran over 6 months in 2020.
Website Brief
Agile Digital Strategy provided a number of key features needed for the website design and SEO.
Redesign of Website
At the beginning of the project, we discussed with the client about what the requirements of the web design were. They needed an updated Modern responsive ecommerce website which was supported by BigCommerce.
BigCommerce Platform
BigCommerce was retained as CMS as it is an eCommerce platform which caters to holding over 500 products. This was ideal for Laptop Battery, due to their large volume of stock from a variety of different brands and their existing knowledge of the platform.
The aim was to update the design and layout of the site to improve the user experience (UX) with a focus on increasing conversion rates on the website. During the design process, we identified and fixed audit issues to completely update the website.
The new design clearly showcases the stock available from Laptop Battery. It is now very easy to navigate throughout the website due to updated search feature and the breakdown of the stock into categories. Laptop Battery’s website is also optimised for Mobile Responsive Design
SEO
Along with the redesign, our SEO services were required to increase Laptop Battery’s visibility online. We analysed the websites performance at the beginning of the project and Agile Digital Strategy recognised the potential ranking opportunities.
Competitor Research & Keyword Analysis
Through competitor research and keyword analysis, we discovered what Laptop Battery currently ranked for and during the process we identified new keywords for them to begin targeting.
On-Page SEO
Our team began to implement changes on the websites to optimise it for SEO. This process included adding new web pages, adding keywords to the content, increasing links, created meta descriptions and edited image details.
Off-Page SEO
We increased the number of backlinks to the website to increase its visibility to Google. We also offered advice regarding managing reputation online.
Google My Business Optimisation
Google My Business profile was optimised to include a better business description and includes a number of the laptop battery brands with descriptions.
SEO Result
From the beginning of the project to the end, we tracked the amount of keyword Laptop Battery ecommerce website ranked for. At the end of the project, there was an 700% increase in keyword rankings!
There was also a 666% increase in daily organic visitors.
SEO & eCommerce Website Design of Laptop Battery Completion
During the planning stages of this web design project, the initial time for delivery was estimated 6 months. The updated website went live and has been a great success due to how easy it now is to navigate the site to locate the required product.
