6 Call to Action tips to Improve Your Marketing Strategy
What Is A Call to Action?
Are you trying to figure out how to persuade more individuals to do business with you? Do you want your website and email call to action to lead more people down your conversion path? Of course you do.
We at Agile Digital Strategy share 6 call to action best practices.
Here’s a quick summary of our 6 tips for Calls to Action:
- Keep Your CTAs Brief
- Create Urgency
- Utilize Contrasting Colours and White Space
- Make Your CTAs Into a Button
- Double-check Your Landing Pages
- Use Action-Oriented Text
1. Keep Your CTAs Brief
Generally speaking, you should keep your text short and sweet and stick to the point. No longer than four words if possible for the CTA.
Use strong verbs that promote action. Some examples that work well: “Get Started”, “Learn More”, “Register Today”. Remove verbs such as “Buy”, “Order” or “Submit” as potential customers feel like they are being forced into an action.
2. Create Urgency
If you have an offer, you want to create a FOMO (fear of missing out) that will encourage customers to action or they will miss out. Use “Shop Now”, “Last Chance”, “Limited Offer”.
3. Utilize Contrasting Colours And White Space
You want your call to action to stand out against other content on the page. Use contrasting colours, if the CTA is the same as other text it will blend in.
Also use plenty of white space around the CTA to help it stand out. Make the CTA text bigger so it stands out.
4. Make Your CTAs Into A Button
The human brain is wired to expect action when a button is pressed. They are also tempting – we really want to press them.
You can design your CTA in many different ways, hyperlinked text, graphics, but buttons are best to convert to an action.
5. Double-check Your Landing Pages
When you create a CTA check to ensure the link goes to the correct page and not a broken page.
After you have finished your webpage or marketing email with a CTA, click through all the CTAs included and check they all work as they are supposed to.
6. Use Action-Oriented Text.
They’re called calls to action, so make sure to use striking, actionable text to draw your readers in. Try not to use words like submit, enter, and even click here, give more compelling verbs like get, read, and try, then put those with text relating to your specific offer.
Here are some examples:
- Get discount
- Reserve your place
- Try for free
In summary, the goal of a call to action is to increase the market’s reaction rate. Without it, a visitor will ignore the advertisement or offer and move on to something else.
CTAs have long been acknowledged as a significant tool by successful sales people. The key to creating a strong call to action is to provide customers compelling reasons to buy immediately.
You’ve put so much time and effort into your marketing materials, don’t let them go to waste due to a lack of effective CTAs!
