Background on Oak Ancestry
Oak Ancestry is an Irish genealogy service that offers a friendly, professional and confidential Irish genealogy service for those who wish to explore the story of their Irish ancestry and heritage. They offer a wide range of genealogical services, including helping people to discover their Irish family history, providing detailed Family Research Reports, helping with passport applications and more.
An updated modern responsive website was required that would lead to more organic traffic through people searching online for Irish Genealogy Services.
Marie approached Agile Digital Strategy to request a Website Redesign with SEO services for Oak Ancestry. Keyword Research & Competitor Analysis
First Step was Keyword Research for SEO and Competitor Analysis. Completing Keyword Research identified a number of keyword terms to target which lead to the pages required on the website. Ideally each keyword phrase should have its own page on the website.
This was to ensure that the design and layout would match closely as to what people are searching for.
Website Design
At the beginning of the project, our team discussed what the main requirements for the Web Design were for Oak Ancestry. They needed an updated Modern responsive eCommerce website using WordPress as CMS. The website also had to be mobile responsive and upgraded to include an online shop.
The website has a number of different pages which showcase the services Oak Ancestry provides with detailed information on Geological Research, Reports and Gifts to purchase.
The new design clearly showcases the services available from Oak Ancestry. It is now very easy to navigate throughout the website due to updated search features and the breakdown of the service information into categories.
We collectively decided to use colours of their logo to be the theme of the website throughout the design to keep the branding consistent.
Ecommerce - Booking System, Shop & Payments
The Oak Ancestry website required an Online Shop set up through WooCommerce with an online payment facility through Stripe to be integrated in the store. The online eCommerce store is functional and easy to use when purchasing a gift voucher from the website.
Options to add items to the cart, view the cart, entering the customers details and integrating with Stripe (a payment system) were all necessary features for this store.
Content Writing & SEO Optimisation
Along with the redesign, our SEO services were required to increase the new web designs visibility online. We analysed the websites performance at the beginning of the project and Agile Digital Strategy recognised the potential ranking opportunities. We began the process of Keyword Research and Competitor Analysis to identify the key areas that Oak Ancestry should be targeting.
Once we had this information gathered, we began content writing for the website. Our team researched the website topics thoroughly and optimised the content for SEO by using the target keywords we identified in the keyword analysis.
Our team provided well written content, added new web pages, added keywords to the content, increased links, created meta descriptions and edited image details. All of these features resulted in a growth in the websites rankings.

We set up Google Analytics to track how many visitors the website gets and to enable some demographic profiling and monitoring of usage of the website.
Website Training
Once the website went Live, we provided a online training via Zoom. This training service was essential as it was essential to show Oak Ancestry on how to manage her new website. During training we covered all of the main features needed to run the site. These included showing our client how to manage their new site, how to add or remove pages and images, how to add new blog posts, how to upload new products and how to edit the content.

During the planning stages of this web design project, the initial time for delivery was estimated 6 to 12 weeks on the provision that all content was provided. The updated website went live and has been a great success due to how easy it now is to navigate the site to locate the required service.
